Larimar, or blue pectolite, is an extremely rare gemstone & has only be found in one location in the relatively inaccessible mountainous area in the province of Barahona in the Dominican Republic.
It's very hard to photograph Larimar, especially in full sun as the color gets washed out & the true beauty of the beads becomes unclear. Some of the photos were shot in partial sun to help show off the color and pattern. These beads will have some gray, brown or black matrix - which is very common - & they have a nice blue and white combination to include that "clouds" look on many beads.
The beads in this necklace are rare, genuine & natural - not dyed - with each bead being handcut. The hole is in the center of each bead measuring ~0.60mm.This handmade necklace is finished off with sterling silver beads, 1-1/2" extender chain - complete with a 10mm rondelle bead - plus the lobster clasp for a total length of 18.5" and weighing in at 99.2 grams. The total length of the beads are 16". This is a strand of large Larimar beads from the Dominican Republic.
